Vasectomy

Vasectomy is a highly effective form of permanent male contraception (>99.996% effective) in which the vas deferens (tubes that transport sperm from the testicles to the ejaculate) are divided and sealed to prevent sperm from entering the ejaculate.

Vasectomy is performed as an outpatient procedure, typically about 15–20 minutes in duration, with a relatively quick recovery.

Post-vasectomy semen analysis is required to confirm successful sterilization prior to stopping contraception. This is typically performed approximately 3 months after the procedure, depending on the clinical circumstances.
