Hydrocelectomy

Hydrocelectomy is the surgical treatment of a hydrocele, a collection of fluid surrounding the testicle that causes scrotal enlargement or discomfort.

Through a small scrotal incision, the fluid is drained and the hydrocele sac is treated/excised in a manner designed to prevent recurrence. The procedure is generally outpatient.

Swelling and bruising can persist for several weeks after surgery, and a supportive garment is often recommended during the early recovery period. Risks include bleeding, infection, recurrence, chronic discomfort, and injury to the testicle or surrounding structures.
